New Yorkers: Please tell me about Manhattan?

I plan on moving to Manhattan for work in the next few months or so and was just wondering what living there is like, in a nutshell...I currently live in L.A. and am 18. I'm hoping that I will truly love it, and that it won't be too much of a culture shock.
