I want to travel THE GREAT OCEAN RD in one day from melbourne to Warnambool back to

melbourne? How long does it take? i wanted to get to warnambool directly, early and travel back to melbourne taking my time alog the ocean road! has anyone done something simular and is it comfortably possible with given time frame of a day?

I've done this a few years ago....the other way around. Left Melbourne early (@ 6am). Had breakfast in Geelong.Took our time driving the Great Ocean Road...stopping frequently along the way and arrived in Warnambool early afternoon.The inland road back to Melbourne only takes a couple of hours (from memory). We were back in time for dinner.It was a busy day...but it wasn't too excessive

City to Warrnambool via inland route (Princes Highway) is 3 hours whilst via Great Ocean Road is 4 hours---non-stop in both cases. So, yes its possible to do the trip in a day but I'm sure you'll be tempted to stop along the coast road. Check out the web site below.
