We just arrive at Montreal and are looking for housing. There is an apartment near Metro station at Cote-des-Neiges that looks pretty good. We just wonder whether it is a good place to live. We are a couple with a two year old son.I greatly appreciate your response. Thank you.

The island of Montreal, as a whole, is a very safe place to live. But before you commit to this apartment in Cote-des-Neiges, you should check out some other areas first. I would recommend to look at Westmount and Outremont. Westmount is just south of Cote-des-Neiges and is the affluent English area. Westmount is very residential and technically its own city. Because of this, Westmount is probably one of the safest, if not the safest, areas on the island of Montreal. Outremont is just east (actually north east) of Cote-des-Neiges and is known as the affluent French area. Like Westmount, Outremont is also very safe.Now, both Westmount and Outremont are fairly expensive areas but I think you will find more reasonably priced apartments if you look closer to the busy streets in each area. You also may want to go further east out on the green line and see what those (more suburban) areas have to offer.Hope you find a wonderful place to live in Montreal.
