| People attack others for their beliefs or different ideas because they view it as a challenge to their own. In a way, having other people share the same idea/belief as you validates what you believe. When someone comes along and says "such and such is this way", and it disagrees with your opinion, people feel compelled to defend their opinion. Rather than claiming "such and such" is a certain way, people should state that they believe such and such. It's less confrontational.

| For people. Beliefs are foundations for how they veiw the world. If there beliefs are challenged or made to be completely false, then their world crumbles and I'm sure no one would want that to happen. Thats why some people attack others beliefs because; 1. their beliefs say that any belief in something different is wrong because it is false according to them. 2. they are afraid that other beliefs may be right and that they have been wasting their time believing something is false. 3. some people just simply don't understand. 4.They are taught a belief system from a young age and can't understand why others believe differently. 5. Ignorance 6. Some people are just jerks or they are fearful of difference. |

| Yeah, I hear ya. If people would not beat people over the head with their beliefs the world would be better. Live by example. If someone is trying to convert another just mention it and leave it at that. Once is enough. Not 3, 4, 5 times of saying the same thing over and over. End of story.

| I'll field this one. Most people are insecure. And it is not just human nature, but nature in general, to attack that which is uncommon. I could expound with data involving rats and such, but really, do you doubt? And dare I say, it's a testosterone driven response. I saw a guy in 7-11 last night with two faux diamond earrings. now, 15 years ago, that same man might have beaten up a guy for having a pierced ear and called him a fag. The thing is, it is not so very "different" now, so it's "OK" Bottom line is- People are sheep. And if they are pumping out testosterone- they are often stoopid sheep.
