Is there a reason why ghosts like to visit places of torment?

It's been known that ghosts like to go to places where there was murders,etc.

Why is this?

I think is because ghosts are, for the most part, troubled souls themselves. so they go to socialize with the ghosts that are places of torment, or maybe that's where they died or have people that in one or other way are related to them.

Ghost stories were created to scare people away from places where they didn't want to go. Eventually people started to believe in ghosts. But there's nothing to them at all, they don't exist.

they been murdered there. they can't lay to rest because they came back to haunt the ones that murdered them. they want to seek answers that happened there. until they get what they wanted will they rest in peace.
