See grey and black checkered patterns when u rub your eyes?

I'm not sure what it is, but I see purple circles and white dots...

Yes at times. I also see t.v. static and black and white spirals.

when I rub my eyes for a while i see patterns that look like faint smoke swirling around.

Yes you are absolutely right i also see grey and black checkered patterns when i rub my eyes.
