Ghost is real or imaginary?

I'm sure I had a ghost cat in my basement once. Scared the living daylights out of me a couple times.I was sitting at my computer in the basement (where else would I be in the middle of the night) and all of a sudden it sounded like someone threw a freakin' cat down the stairs - I heard the cat screaming and the bumping down the stairs. I was almost crying I was so freaked out. I thought a cat must have actually just gotten in the house - but do cats fall down the stairs? I searched all over for that cat - never found it. Over the next few years I saw it sitting at the landing at the bottom of the stairs once but when I looked again it was gone, and my husband (who thought I was crazy) finally saw it and it scared the hell ut of him too. LOL
