| Rememebr that during the time Shakespeare was writing Macbeth many people believed in ghosts and the supernatural. One of the themes of Macbeth is that it is "unnatural" or "unGodly" for Macbeth to murder Duncan. Duncan is the king (God's representative on earth) and a kinsman (a family member=related to Macbeth) and also Macbeth's host. All three of these are very important relationships during the Elizabethan age and it was a very big and very evil deal that Macbeth was breaking all convention and murdering a man who was king, kinsman and host. This act was so evil that nature itself and the witches react to it. You need to think of the supernatural as being part of the world of nature. When Macbeth breaks the rules nature itself reacts. Macbeth is a great play. I hope you read it and then read it again when you are older. It is way cool.
