| fact discribe aspects of reality I ask this, because the other day I asked a question about seeing spirituality in a pool of mud, and got one answer that quite intrigued me.In the question, I suggested that 'spiritual' and 'inspirational' have much in common. His answer implied that, although he is an atheist, he believes that the emotional trauma an artist can experience in the process of creativity is a spiritual experience that goes beyond inspiration. Having experienced this throughout my life in my own creative pursuits, it got me to wonder whether a word that usually makes me cringe, is actually an apt discription for much of what we experience in life.To say someone has 'spirit' is generally accepted as discribing charachter rather anything supernatural. But how does the mean change when it becomes 'spirituality'?The word seems to mean different things to different people. Is it just a matter of context?Kallan........perhaps that's one of the things that confuses the debate in here.Pangel.........Thank you. Such a simple and concise answer that seems so obvious when seperated from the other baggage the word usually carries. I might not cringe so much now when called a 'spiritual' person.

| I see the point of what your atheist answerer is saying.Don't all of the terms like spirit, spirituality, religion, etc.. have different meanings to different people?

| Yes, I believe that spirituality has everything to do with reality. In fact, I'm a Pagan and I don't see anything supernatural about it. For me it's all about what is apparent, whether it be a tree, a breath of wind, or my own energy directed into casting a spell. These things are real and are part of my spirituality.

| I was reading a paper written by a family member about how "spirituality" can help people in the work place. It was in that paper that I found a definition which I think describes it perfectly, for me. It is an interconnectedness with one's self, others, and the universe (that word can be substituted for world, nature, or whatever else appeals to a person.)I have never really considered spirituality as having something to do with spirits or souls. I guess it all just depends on how you want to view it.

| Watch a marching band, see the spirit of that group (Esprit De Corp). It is a minor spirit, and transient. The creative genius of the author of the music is animated, and gives the illusion of life. Spirits of anger, joy, etc are transient as well.More permanent spirits are offered by religion. Eternal spirits are few. I can find only seven in the Bible, and they are often misunderstood. I think that the granddaddy of all spirits, is the bootstrapping, self regenerating person known as Resurrection.Spirituality meets people on what ever level, or mental state an individual is at or in. It could be artistic, scientific, religious, athletic, you name it.
