My girlfriend and I have been experiencing many paranormal events in our apartment and we need to figure out what is it that is haunting us. So we went over a list of every kind of supernatural entity we could think of:

ghost/spirit
banshee
leprechaun
faerie
angel
boggart
bogeyman
demon
gnome
goblin
gremlin
imp
pixie

Our question to ghosthunters is how can we tell the difference? Are there tests that you use that can tell the difference between gremlin activity and ghost activity?

Also, how come there are so many ghost hunters but not so many gnome hunters or imp hunters? Do you just automatically assume it is a ghost, or is it that ghosts are just more numerous and responsible for more hauntings?

Some answerers are saying that some of the entities on my list don't exist. I appreciate all answers but I'm hoping to get input from people who aren't closed-minded to the possibilities. Thanks!

Ghost hunters are an arrogant lot.They see it as beneath them dealing with imps and lesser supernatural creatures.They leave that to paranormal investigators.It's similar to the Brain Surgeon-Proctologist relationship.I hope that clears things up for you.

Just about all of those on that list are not real. The only ones I believe in and the most wide reported cases are Ghosts, demons, and angels. Unless you got a pot of gold somewhere or you stole the Leprechauns Lucky Charms. Then you're screwed. :-)

you forgot brownies. I was hunted by brownies once. They wouldn't leave me alone until I bought their cookies.

Maybe if you described your "haunting" someone might be able to suggest a possibility. Most, if not all these creatures are completely fictitious.
