16 team keeper, head to head....We start 5 SP's and I have a couple decent back-ups I could plug in if I trade Santana. My team is about 3rd or 4th best overall but in good postion to make the playoffs but I feel I need 1 more big bat to compete in the playoffs. I recently threw his name around in trade talks and i could trade straight up for players like Ichiro, Dye, possibly vlad but I feel all of these players have seen there better days even though they are still good and this being a keeper league I would like someone younger. Just wondering what value people have with Santana and what type of offensive player they would be willing to trade straight up for. Santana has been the top overall pitcher in point the last 3 yrs and with playing head to head its nice to be able to count on points from your pitcher each week, there very few pitchers that you can say that about over the last 3 years.I had an offer of Sizemore for Santana, Ibanez and my 6th today and I turned it down. Just second guessing myself if I did the right thing. I have a real good pitching staff for a 16 team league, it took me a couple years to acquire it (we protect 9) Santana, Verlander, Sheets, Felix Hernandez and O Hernandez, they are all finally healthy and doing well but I could use a big bat and I have D Bush on the bench who is starting to pitch pretty well.

I would be very careful trading Santana. Getting Dye is a cruel joke on you and shouldn't be seriously considered, neither should Ichiro.Vlad might be a fair deal...but if you're looking for a big bat that could help you this year but somebody who is still young, maybe BJ Upton or Ryan Braun PLUS a decent starter or player to make it fair...maybe somebody like Jered Weaver, Matt Cain or a GOOD saves guy.Or if you want to be a little more sure...somebody like maybe Mark Teixera or Grady Sizemore (his owner might be a little down on him...you might even be able to get Sizemore and a prospect...).It's hard to move somebody as good as Santana because it's a risk to move him at all - the guys you get could bust and are probably more likely to bust than he is. But if you feel really good about your pitching, you might also think about packaging him with somebody decent and going after one of the big fish - like Pujols...
