No, reason being that with the new chase format, Denny is going to be at a slight disadvantage having only won one race. Granted, he will run consistently, thanks to his Gibbs power... but he still doesn't have the firepower to compete with the Hendricks teams or even Martin Truex Jr, who is on a roll as of recently...

I think he stands a chance if he can keep it up, but that would mean Jeff would have to go into a slump and I don't see that happening. But I would just love it if Denny won the Cup!

I guess it's still possible but if I remember correctly, tony stewart's first year he was named rookie of the year and his second year he won the championship. I believe he did the same for IRL his first year - rookie of the year, second year IRL championship. So I don't think it's that rare.
