What are the Pros and cons of a inflatable kayak vs a normal kayak?

I am new to kayaking and i want to get started, i am not sure about what type of kayak i need. I could imagine that an inflatable kayak may be a little slower than a normal kayak. I live in the bay area near san francisco so i would like to be able to take it out on the bay as well.Any thoughts?
