Hosting a tournament is having a tournament on your home turf, so where's you're in charge of it.So ex. Canada is hosting the Mens U-20 FIFA world cupHosting cities are: Toronto, Ottawa etc

It means that a person has arranged a tournament for a certain event. This weekend Tiger Woods hast hosted a golf tournament for Military Personal. His way of saying "thanks for your sacrifice for the country"(States) In this day and age we give everything a "nick name" .
