| No, of course your not old for skating in the upcoming prenovice. Of course, I am not a skater, but I know that you are never too old to accomplish your goal or acheive your dream. Go for it! I believe you can do it

| It is never stupid to reach for your goals! If you can only skate 1-2 a week, you need to make the most out of your precious ice time. Keep focused! On the days you don't skate, have an off ice routine - with stretches, off ice exercises, and cross training. There are so many ways you can make the most of your off ice time to help with skating (just remember to not over do it - your body needs rest too!). If anything, talk to your coach about it. Tell him/her your intentions . . . and together you can layout a plan to achieve your goal. Your coach knows your skating better than any of us . . . he/she can give you a better time frame of when you will truly be ready for the next level. Skate hard and skate well!

| You're not too old to skate competitively, but what elements are the other pre-novice skaters putting into their programs? I think that in pre-novice, you'd be skating against others who are working on higher-level programs for their next test - Novice. Did you test to that level or is an age-limit imposed level? In any case, if you're only skating once or twice a week, you'd need to put some serious off-ice workouts into your schedule. They'll help you stay strong/get stronger and also help with the jumps. You'll also need a copy of your freestyle program music, so you can do run throughs off-ice on a non-slip surface.Make sure you get to the rink early to stretch and warm up before the session starts. That way, you don't waste ice time warming up.The hard part is staying focused on the ice. It's always nice to visit with friends, but if you only have a few hours, you'll need to get as much out of each skating session. Try to do one program runthrough at the beginning of the session, and another after you've practiced. It builds endurance.Put a notebook into your skate bag and start making up workout plans for each practice, so you'll know what to do without having to think about it too much. After each lesson, write down what you worked on and what you need to practice.Good luck! www.skatecanada.ca
