i think it will work. allen and pierce are so good that they draw a lot of defenders. jefferson's presence makes allen get open 3's. Pierce needs to be unselfish but still be a 25 point scorer each night.

better question, will ray allen and allan ray be able to exist on the same team at the same time?.. or will the overlap cause this universe and the bizarro universe to collapse on themselves?anyways, if ray allen is still good for like 2 more years, and rondo can stay healthy and play at the level he did at the tail-end of last season, the trade shouldnt be as bad as everybody is making it out to be. i think it all depends on how rondo handles the point. if he can do it well, then the celtics can be a pretty good team in a weak eastern conference... but even though an effective rondo, allen, pierce, and jefferson are a talented 4-some, the things keeping them from making the playoffs are a bad coach at the helm and a lack of a pf.

I think this will work because Allen will be playing shooting guard and maybe a little bit of point guard as well. Pierce will play for the most part as a small forward. This will work out for the celtics and I really think they have a good chance to make the playoffs this year and possibly win a championship for the first time since 1986. GO CELTICS!!!!!!!!!

Why won't it work? Ray Allen is a great shooter, one of the best all-time; Pierce is a great scorer, capable of shooting from the outside and slashing to the hoop. Along with Al Jefferson, who will have an easier time posting down low with Ray Allen hitting from outside, the trio will pose problems for many teams. Defenses cannot double team Pierce as much as before. If they do, Pierce will get the ball to an open Allen outside, or to Al Jefferson posting up. Pierce, Al Jefferson and Rajon Rondo will all benefit playing alongside Ray Allen. Allen still has maybe 4 years of excellent ball in him, he even had a career-best scoring season this past year. Finally, it will be fun to see Ray Allen play alongside 2nd-year guard Allan Ray.
