Why do we still have those inept idiots the royal family?

The Royal Family are meaningless in themselves, inept or otherwise. The institution is maintained for several reasons, but mostly because it is the keystone to the social order in the UK.Royalty is not just an anachronism in the modern world, but a brake on developing a more democratic, equitable society - which is why many, many vested interests want to hold them in place.

Inbreeding, dear. Only royals are to wed royals, so the gene pool has gotten very murky with families over the years wedding only royalty. Only the influx of pure outside genetic code will bring a new life and new level of intelligence to the royals. Unfortunately, madness has run in the royal families for centuries.
