assassinated instead of just murdered? People have been murdered., but some murders are called assasinations. How important do you have to be to be assasinated other than murders.

This is a good question. When a politician is killed, they are assassinated. When a movie star is killed, they are murdered. When John Lennon was killed, he was assassinated, as was the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. I guess if someone is a political figure or a ruler or public dignitary, their murder would be considered an assassination. If a person is famous, but a normal celebrity, their murder would be a murder. If a person is famous but is a highly renowned public figure or celebrity icon, then their murder would be considered an assassination. Personally, I consider the murder of any human being equally tragic, yet the term assassination somehow implies that the person was more important.

when its not personal and the person killed is someone in power or has power over the masses or popular against the ruling party. people who testify against someone in power are also asssinated. and they are killed by hired professional killers and mercenaries not the local thugs. you don't have to have a big time job title to be assinated.
