| because there is more water for you to move with, rather than little. and you can expand your body throughout the water.

| As long as you are not touching the bottom of the pool, there is no difference. Your buoyancy is the same at both ends. Think of an Olympic swimmer. They go fast at both ends.Maybe it's less crowded in the deep end and you have more room to swim.

| 1. Upward lift The upward lift you receive in the water will be the same in the deep and the shallow part of the pool. Reason: Your lift depends on the amount of water you displace, this does not change at both ends of the swimming pool. 2. Turbulence and waves. In order to obtain a good propulsion when you swim, you need to have a good grip in the water. Water gives a better grip when there is less turbulence, with other words, "water which is not moving that much". I would conjecture that water in the shallow part of the pool is more turbulent and has more waves than the deep part. I could think of two reasons for that: More waves: Waves from the deep part of the pool will become larger when the reach the shallow part of the pool. This effect is similar to waves reaching the beach and growing in size. More turbulence: Pressure waves reflect on the bottom of the pool. PS: Olympic swimming pools need to be at least 2 meters deep everywhere.

| It's a simple matter of density. We can all agree that it would be harder to swim in dense mud than in water. Well, the same principle applies for the swimming pool. In the shallow end of the pool, you will find the greatest concentreation of kids, and the primary activity of little kids in any pool is urination. Since the density of urine of slightly higher than that of water, and the constant production of wee wee from the young ones will keep the concentration of urine much higher in the shallow end, it therefore stands to reason that it will be slightly more difficult to swim in the shallow end.
