 A nebula is a cloud of interstellar gas and dust. There are 1000s within range of our telescopes. There are two kinds of nebulae: reflection and emission. Reflection nebulae are visible because they reflect light from nearby stars, and tend to be bluer. Emission nebulae are generally star forming structures, and tend to be redder in color. There are many beautiful examples, thanks to the Hubble Space Telescope. You can find many great pictures here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nebula .

| A nebula in astronomical terms is any gas formation that emits light in such a way that it can be seen with a telescope. There are many nebulae (plural). There is the Orion nebula which you can see in winter from November trough March. This is only the brightest one - you can see it with the unaided eye. But there are a dozen others you can see with a telescope. So "Nebula" is not one specific object. Then you should not use the term "star sign" in astronomy. We speak about constellations. Star sign is more an astrological term that is used for horoscopes.
