| (serious question- please help!)? What I mean to say is, could a perfectly healthy adult human jump from say the top of Canary Wharf or the Empire State, without a harness, rope or parachute, and land on a giant, ultra-soft cushion at ground level, without harm? Is this possible? Thanks!

| During the second world war a rear gunner in a Lancaster Bomber fell out of the turret over Norway and landed in snow and survived. Stuntmen in films jump off high structures quite a lot too. When someone jumps or falls from somewhere high up they reach what is known as terminal velocity after about 30 metres of free fall and once this speed is reached they don't go any quicker as they fall further. Terminal velocity is about 55 metres per second.

| It is perfectly possible if the deceleration due to your harness is less than fatal/dangerous G levels for humans. As a matter of fact, a bungee jump does just that. As for how far he can fall, considering only the impact, if your netting or padding is capable enough, any heights is fine. This is because the maximum velocity will be the terminal velocity, which is around 200 kmph for humans and if your netting can collect the energy of a 200 kmph*mass of the body impact and bring it to stop within acceptable G-levels, you can survive.

| With a correctly sprung net of the correct materials you could survive from a huge height assuming you didnt get blown off course , then again you might die if you fell from a very low height if you fell awkwardly.
