RBCs have a bioconcave shape which helps to increase surface area, and the amount of oxygen and CO2 it can carry. It also has iron, and wouldn't be able to function appropiately without it.

It contains haemoglobin. This combines with oxygen to form oxyhaemoglobin. RBCs are transported round the body and, to cut a long story short, provide all parts of the body with the oxygen needed.

It's concave so it can carry oxygen.It's round and small enough to fit through a capillary
