No.Our solar system orbits the center of the Galaxy about once every ~225 million years. There is no evidence in the geologic record that indicates that there is some catastrophic event that happens on this time frame.

i'm not sure but i wouldn't worry too much about that cause if a catastrophic asteroid doesn't hit (chances are 100%) the sun will consume earth when it reaches its red giant stage. and on a grander scale our galaxy is headed for the andromeda galaxy and there will be a pretty big collision there. just hope none of this happens in our lifetime! hope that didn't sound too morbid...
