I just wondering if it's very hard to get a job as a biologist or majoring in biology in California. And, what kind of job that most biologists have?Thank you

I have no personal insight on California per se, but...Generally, about 30% of college graduates end-up working in a field related to their undergraduate degrees. I'd say the percentage in biology is perhaps a *little* lower, but probably not a lot. In other words, it *is* difficult to get... well... *keep* a job in bio generally.Biology is exciting, interesting, and great fun, so there are more people who want to do it than there are jobs available. So as a consequence, there is strong competition for good jobs.Most jobs in bio are where the money are, so this changes a bit as trends and priorities change. But briefly, you can figure biomedical biologists are most common, particularly cancer research of course. Jobs working with animals are fairly uncommon, as are those working with plants. In fact, anything working above the molecular level is relatively much more competitive.Good luck!

hopefully you are still a student...what end point do you want? be a lifetime tech? or something else?if you want to run your own lab or be a big shot...get your phd. if you just want to be a tech...then intern at some lab in the bay area or biotech beach area (la jolla). you want to work at some company. once you get your foot in the door of the biotech field...then you are flexible to work at other biotech places...the hardest part is getting your foot in the door. that is why i suggest that you intern for free or for low cost...but most biologist are working as a tech at companies or moved on to other things...the only question is what do you want to do with your life...hopefully you have already tried research at your uni.
