Hi, I'm taking Albegra Online and having a hard time. Luckly I'm almost done but need a little help please.Write the equation of the line that passes through point (5, â€“6) with a slope of 0.Does x = 5 is that a correct answer?

Hi,For most lines their slope intercept form is most helpful for graphing. If you take y = mx + b and let m = 0, as the slope, and fill in -6 for y and 5 for x from the point (5,-6) as x and y values, then you have: -6 = 0*5 + b. This solves to -6 = b. Filling in your slope of zero and y intercept (b value) of -6 you get y = 0x - 6. This simplifies to y = -6.It's shorter if you remember all horizontal lines have a slope of 0 and are always y = y co-ordinate of any point. This would also give y = -6.I hope that helps!! :-)

No.A horizontal line has a slope of 0. A vertical line has an undefined slope.x = 5 will create a vertical line. y = -6 will create horizontal line with a slope of 0.

the equation of a line is of the form:y = m x + bwhere m is the slope and b is a constant.since slope is 0 then m = 0also since the line passes through (5,-6) then plugging these in the equation:-6 = (0) (5) + b ==> b = -6then the equation will be :y = (0) x -6 or y = -6it is a line parallel to the x axis and for all values of x y is always -6

slope = 0, means dy/dx = 0. dy/dx = 0 means it is a horizontal straight line. It is equal to tangen 0 degree. Whereas, a vertical straight line have a dy/dx of infinite number (which equal to tangen 90 degree).The formula for a straight line is y = mx + c, where m is the slope and c is the y-intercept.Therefore, -6 = 0(5) + c, c = -6The formula for the line is => y = (0)x - 6Thus, y = -6.
