 Why doesnt my friend love her newborn daughter? Is it normal for new moms not to love their baby right away? My friend had a daughter she said she only wanted all boys. She called her mom and told her mom to come get her baby because she didnt want it because it was a girl.

| Well Not All Mothers Connect To Their Newborns Right Away. Sounds Like She Is Very Dissapointed In Having A Girl Which Is Sad. I Connected To My First Immediately Then Got Pregnant Again When He Was Just 6 Mos Old So Was Not Ready For Another So Soon They Ended Up Being 16mos Apart And I Can Relate To Not Connecting To My Daughter Right Away. I Cared For Her But Felt So Very Overwhelmed And Alone. I Had Post Partum Pretty Bad To The Point I Just Cried. I Loved Her But It Took Me A Good Month To Even Adapt To Having Her. I Felt So Guilty Because With My Son It Was Immediate. Now My Daughter Is 2 1/2 And I Adore Her!

| this is terrible. but some people do not get that mother to child connection. it is sad. it happened to my brother. his mom and my dad got devorced so for years he was shipped (by plane) from home to home. until his mother didn't want him anymore. but she did love his sister.... and quite frankly there is nothing you can really do to help it.

| she may be suffering depression... she also may be very young and not ready for a baby of any sex.

| That is a very serious issue!! Sounds like postpartum depression She could be in trouble for child abuse. I can't tell you what to do because I don't totally know the situation. If the baby is being ignored or not fed and not held, then you need to report it to child services. But, first talk to her family.

| could be possible she's got postpartum depression. its a terribly hard thing to deal with, and u say and think crazy things. You should read about it, see if it fits her right now, and then discuss it with her. I had it, and I wish someone would have said something to me. it's tough to battle it alone. assure her that it's not a bad thing, that she's not at fault for having those feelings, its hormonal.

| she will come around ..HOPEFULLY! or someone needs to take care of that baby besides her! she is probably going through depression..i went through it too..but not like that..i love my son so much he is 9 months old and the greatest..its just adapting to something new! I will pray for her!
