Well, honestly, in the perspective of an 80 year lifespan, 14 is still pretty young. Your parents aren't trying to annoy you, they're trying to protect you. They want to you to grow up without getting pregnant or date raped or addicted to drugs. And there are a couple of possibilities with your friends: one is that they aren't actually allowed to do all the things you think they are, but they're too embarassed to let you know that. And the second one is that sometimes teenagers who don't have a lot of rules or boundaries kind of wish their parents would be more like your parents, because it takes away the responsibility of making tough decisions that they're not quite ready to face. If you have to be home by 10:00, it's easier to say, umm, no, I don't want that joint because I have to go home soon and my parents would KILL me, than to say, no, I choose not to do drugs. But you're feeling stifled and frustrated, and that ****s. Maybe your parents will be willing to compromise if you try to meet them half way. What about a group date, or a double date with a good friend? What about a date where they drop you off and pick you up? If not, there's a cure .. you're getting older every day.
