| daycares usually accept infants 6 wks and up. I worked in daycares and found that around 12 months worked best just because their immune systems were a little stronger and they weren't relying so much on the bottles and could eat the "school" lunches. You just have to remember that daycare kids do usually get sick more often with stuff sometimes that you can't even pronounce or remember the name of. The steps at most daycares are (6 wks-18 months infant room), (18 months-2 years toddler room), (2-3 is 2 year old room) (3,4 and 5 are preschool) and above 5 is schoolagers. I know in the daycares i worked at they started pottytraining in the 2 year old room. Just watch and see when you think she is ready to start socializing in daycare and how many kids you want her to be around.

| Some babies start daycare at 6 weeks, some never go to daycare and stay with mom till they start school. Only you can decide what is best for your child. Depending on where you live, December may not be possible. Most decent child care places are booked way far in advance, and the waiting lists are crazy. If you find a place who can easily squeeze you in like it is nothing, you have to stop and ask yourself why they have vacancy while other places have a 8-12 month waiting list. If you do decide to send her, bring her to your top few choices during the super busy times for an interview. During morning drop off, or lunch, or right before nap time. You want to catch the child care center at a crazy hectic time and see how the teachers really are under pressure. Ask a lot of questions and make sure you feel comfortable with their answers? What do they do if they can't get ahold of you or any of the emergency contacts? What types of things will they call you for? What is their policy on children trading lunches and how do they stop it from happening, especially if your daughter has an alergies. Also keep in mind that many day cares charge for every week, even if you will be on vacation. If you will be home during Christmas week, do you really want to be paying for childcare that week? I would go for a January start
