What is your opinion on surrogate mothers?

If a couple cannot have kids because of complications with carrying a child, do you think having a surrogate is a good idea? Or should they give up on the notion of having a child?

I honestly think that adoption is a better route to go. The children are already there and waiting....It is a long process (but so is a pregnancy. Wouldn't it be worth it?)Surrogacy is expensive, time consuming, and over all, a very emotional ordeal. I don't think I could ever do it.
