what happens if you dont kno when to take a pregnancy test?

i took a pregnancy test today and it came out negative the problem is i have an irregular period it changes very month so i dont kno when my period is supposed to come on. i took it today because yesterday my breast started to get sore usually this happens and the next morning my period has started but i havent, i know its soon but i started getting cramps today and i never have symptoms for two days before my period i have been having other symptoms like nausea mood swings bloating for about a week or two but it just got worse this week. is their anyone else with an irregular period or anyone who can just help?

wait a week, if you still haven't started your period, then retest. Do this until your period comes or until you finally get a positive test result. Or, just go to your doctor!

I tested every week when I thought I was expecting and I kept getting what turned out to be false negatives. Finally 8.5 weeks into my pregnancy I finally got a positive.
