I am a young babysitter. The kids that I babysit are great. We have been friends with their family forever. The younger one is about 3 and the older one is about 5. It seems as if the older one is turning on me. I have known her ever since she was growing inside her mum. While I was watching her she started to curse! I told her if she did it again I would tell her mum. Then, I had to put the little one down to bed. She wouldn't budge. I had the idea to sit with her for about 10 min and put on a movie in her bedroom. That's when the older one told me not to put her down! I told her that her mum wanted me to put her down and as the babysitter I had to follow her instrutions NOT the childs. I took classes on this so I don't think I really did a bad job with her. I worked with them again and it wasn't as bad as the last time. Except, the older one started hitting me and she cursed again! I plan on telling her mum the next time it happens. Any other advice?Well If she curses again I will tell her mum. I just wanted to see if she would stop cursing and listen o me. I don't want her to test me like I know some kids will do to their babysitters. I am afraid if I tell her mum and she gets in trouble then she will make my job worse.

you sound like you handled the situation well, the best thing to do is to talk with her mum, i am sure her mum would rather you did it also lets the child see that you mean what you say, which is very important children must always know where they stand and they will take advantage if they think they can. good luck
