| Anyone move from California to North Carolina (Raleigh or Charlotte areas)? Or do you have information to share that may be helpful in our decision to relocate to NC?My husband and I are considering moving to NC within the year. We are looking at Raleigh and Charlotte areas. My husband is a software engineer and we've heard there are lots of tech jobs in these areas. Has anyone moved from CA to NC? What are the biggest differences? Is NC a better place to raise a family? We have two small boys and are looking for an affordable place to live that is also a great place to raise a family. We've got a lot of equity, but not enough to get us into a CA priced $750,000 fixer upper. We're tired of the fast pace and high cost of living and the tiny lot sizes. We want to relax and stretch out a bit and have fun with out kids. We're planning on taking a trip this summer to visit NC in person to see if we like it or not.

| I lived in FL all of my life until 2003 when I moved to NC to be with my (now ex) boyfriend. I fell in love with NC. We lived in Durham which is in the "Triangle." The Triangle consists of Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill.If your husband is in the 'tech field' I think the Triangle would be a great place for you guys. Research Triangle Park is booming with opportunities. Another great town is Cary which is only about 10-15 minutes from Raleigh/Durham.The RDU airport is conveniently located so travel is easy. There are always events happening in the area. Charlotte is only about 3 hours away and you could even take the Amtrak train. Chapel Hill/Carrboro is one of the greatest little college towns you'll ever see. Plus if you're in Raleigh you're only about 2 hours from the coast and 3 hours from the mountains.I moved back to FL last year to help my Mom through a divorce which has taken much longer than expected but every January she came to see me when I was up there and we both agree there's "something in the air" in N.C.Our theme song is now James Taylor's "Gone to Carolina" - once you go you'll see why. It's a place that stays with you.If you haven't already checked it out, you can sometimes find some great real estate listed on the Raleigh/Durham craigslist page... it's http://raleigh.craigslist.orgBest of luck to you and your family!
