is it normal for my 22 month old son to wake up from his nap with an erection?

sometimes when i change his diaper after he wakes up from his nap he has an erection...if i continue to clean his penis while erect, does this cause any sort of sensation for him...i don't want his first experience of sexual pleasure to be from his mother! should i just wait until it has gone soft again?

Males of ALL ages get erections. Its perfectly normal. An erection upon waking is often a sign of needing to urinate. Doesn't your husband wake up with a "pee hard"? Cleaning your son's penis, erect or not, will undoubtedly create some sensation. It may be pleasant, or it may not be. Either way the response will not be sexual at that age. Just relax. What's important is that YOU not respond in some negative or over-reacting way that could put some negative imprint on your son.
