| best for pain? I've heard of using Sudafed to help slow milk production and Motrin for the inflamation and engorgement as well as cabbage for engorgement. Some people say to bind and some don't. Can anyone please give me the fastest and less painful fix?One reason I really want to stop is because I get lots of pain, for instance right now, I'm in major pain even though the breasts aren't full or hard yet and the pain is already in my arm pits.I need the fastest or at least less painful fix. I've only been breastfeeding and pumping for 2 days. Shouldn't something work fast?I've breastfed 2 other children and did so for quite some time with no pain or adverse affects. I do pump out 4-5 oz.

| You're not gonna want to hear this, but I think you should find out why your breasts are hurting so much. Your milk hasn't even come in yet! It sounds like you are experiencing engorgement which EVERY woman goes through after childbirth. I work with newborns and I've done a lactation course. In my opinion, you obviously have attachment issues and your baby isn't feeding properly or enough from your breasts. If this is the case, you may even have mastitis, which would explain the pain in your armpits. Don't give up just because you can't be bothered fixing the problem. Get in touch with your gp or an early childhood centre. Get them to watch you actually feed the baby and I'm pretty sure from experience, that once you actually KNOW how to feed your baby properly, you won't be in so much pain. I know you wanted an easy way of getting out of continuing to breastfeed, but I think ignorance isn't really a good enough reason to deprive your newborn of alll the nutrients and antibodies he/she deserves at such a crucial stage. Good Luck.

| If you're having pain, you're not doing it correctly. Get in touch with a lactation consultant to try and figure out the problem. Please do not give up on this. Think about what's best for your little one!
