I'm not sure what it's called, but there is a diet that teaches you how to balance your body's pH levels (the acid/alkaline balance of your blood), sometimes weight is retained because your body's chemistry is out of whack, not an uncommon thing for vegans to experience (though eating too much meat causes the same problem, just on the other end of the scale.)Your body will not burn fat when it isn't getting any energy (denial diet). Ideally you should be eating six miny meals a day. Try this: my gran has diabetes and needs regular meals, she doesn’t really eat much meat anymore and we are a busy family so don't have time to make her many meals a day. What we've done is every three days I make her 'snack plates', about twelve at a time, we pile a saucer (try buying mismatched tea cup saucers at a local thrift store if you need a bunch) sized plate with whatever fresh fruits and veggies are seasonal, sliced and peeled, and add an ounce of brie cheese, and four ounces of some protein, such as a hard boiled egg, or other meat (you could use nuts, a soy meat replacement, or even a small scoop of a bean salad in a simple vinaigrette). We wrap it up tightly and top with a small wrapped stack of six whole wheat crackers. This way when it's time for her snack all we have to do is grab a plate and add a cup of milk and she has a whole, balanced, meal. By making twelve plates all at once we avoid having to make something each time she needs to eat and I only have to spend about an half hour every three days and she is taken care off. (she also eats whatever we have for dinner as her final meal of the day) This method has been so successful for her, she's been switched over to oral medicine and doesn’t need to take the insulin shot anymore. This is also a great way to encourage your kids to eat healthy if you make them snack plates that cater to their tastes (fav fruits and such). Kids are much more likely to eat healthy when it requires no effort, given a choice between a cookie and having to peel an orange they will grab a cookie, but if all they have to do is grab a lovely plate piled with a rainbow of fruit slices they might go for the pretty plate instead of the boring cooki
