| Right now I Have brown hair with blond highlights and it is really really over due...all grown out and crazy looking! I talked to my hair dresser and she advised that we do not do any permanent color until I give birth. She plans on using a semi-permanent colorance (Goldwell color line) that will last approx 4-6 weeks before I go back to get it touched up. Is this ok to do considering its not permanent? Tell me what you think? Thanks for the input!

| The semi-permanent is still going to contain chemicals. It might be ok, but to be safe I'd wait until your first trimester is over and you are past the point of greatest risk for birth defects.

| Should be fine. Make sure the area is well ventilated.

| The chemicals in hair dye are most likely safe for your baby, virtually harmless. The reason people tell you not to color your hair is because the extra hormones in your body can make your hair turn funky colors. This happens much less often with henna or organic hair dyes, that's what you should look for.

| I JUST, I mean, JUST turned off a discovery health channel show called "Pregnancy for Dummies" (I'm pregnant too) and they talked specifically about hair dye and perms. They said that it is ok to dye your hair, even use permanant dye, during pregnancy. A long time ago, dyes contained formahaldyde and arsenic, so they were obviously unsafe. But today's formulas don't contain these poisons.Getting your hair permed is also safe.I have used permamant dye during both my previous pregnancies and my OB says it's ok. You would want to avoid the fumes as much as possible, but otherwise, it's fine.If it makes you feel better, stick to the semi-permanent kind until after you deliver.

| It's not a problem. I colored my hair about 3 times. Just keep a fan on you so you don't get overwhelmed by the smell since your senses are heightened.

| Personally, I would not.........when I was pregnant I was very careful with what type of chemicals I used on my body. Some chemicals (most hair dye's have ammonia in it) are absorbed into your skin....your baby can be affected by anything entering your body. So to be on the safe side I chose to wait 'till I have my baby to dye my hair.

| its fine... i asked my doctor the same thing and she said the reason people say not to dye ur hair during pregnancy is not because it will hurt the baby... its because with ur hormones going crazy right now, the dye might not take to ur hair very well. so go ahead... the baby will be fine, u just might not like the finished product! hehe
