how long did you have to swaddle baby at night?

my baby sleeps at night but pretty sure she knows because shes being swaddled. Although i do sing to her after i put her in her crib. i also rub her head and dress her in sleep clothes (the little outfit with feet) im hoping she recognizes those things as bedtime also. Im afraid that when she is to big for her swaddler i may not be able to get her to sleep anymore.she squirms a lot has always let those hands flailing around wake her up.I realize when i start something new im sure i will be losing some sleep. Has anyone encountered this or have any ideas. She will soon be to big for the swaddler.......

i would take it away at nap time first to see how she does and to let her get use to the idea

You're realizing something that most parents find out. That your kids grow and grow fast. As their motor skills develop your little one will keep changing and you will need to adjust. Both our little ones "escape" their swaddler very quickly, it almost looked like as soon as they figured how to escape with one arm they wriggle out immediatley. They liked that they "figured it out". This will be the same for everything else. They will outgrow things as they do. And that's a good thing.

Ours grew out of the swaddler around this age, so we started using a sleep sack. You can buy them at target.
