| At the moment, the plan is to name our son, who is due in November, Paolo Luis. But wait, there's a story behind it!I was with some friends at the beach, including a guy named Luis. He saw another friend of his, Pablo, and stopped to talk to him, thus halting our mini entourage. Pedro, who was with Pablo, then stopped to talk to us girls who were with Luis. The rest, as they say, is history (Pedro's my husband now).I don't much like the way Pablo sounds, or Paul, but I do rather like the Italian form. Here, it'd sound like POW-lo; with his Mexican family, more like Pa-OH-lo.Is the pronunciation too much? Is it too lame to have a kid with pretty much NO Italian in him with such a name?Pedro's dad's name is Pedro too. Despite the popularity of Napoleon Dynamite, that'd be one Pedro too many.

| That sounds like it would be hard to say or pronounce if he didnt explain it first, but if you and your husband agree on it thats all that matters.

| Sounds good and it has meaning behind it, which you will always have when you see him or say his name.

| He would probably be criticized for the rest of his life for not having Italian heritage, yet having an Italian name. On another note, if you wish for him to marry an Italian girl this might serve to be a good conversation starter as he tells the story of how he got an Italian name even though he wasn't Italian. Good luck with the name.

| I absolutely adore the name Paolo. Luis is very handsome as well. I highly doubt the pronunciation will be a problem, most people can figure out Paolo, it isn't that hard.I don't know what to tell you about the Italian name and non-Italian kid. I run into the same problems. I love some Polish and Welsh names, and sometimes feel it would be weird to use one because I am Italian and my bf is Filipino/Spanish. Really though, I'm a huge fan of uncommon legitimate names, and if that means people have to pull them from other cultures, so be it. I'd much rather see a non-Italian named Paolo than a boy named Rowdy or Hunter or something.Good luck to your family

| The name is terrible, sorry. And the story is quite boring.
