first scan?

I'm 4weeks...well today is the start of 5 weeks...How many weeks are you when you have your first scan? I've got an appointment with my doctor next week who will then refer me to a midwife..any one no?

six weeks is the norm.I live in greece and I had one every month, even have it on dvd too.congrats, its wonderful being a mummy.

You are normally 12 weeks when you have your first scan, unless the doctor wants to examine you for a variety of reasons. Then you get a scan at 20 weeks and providing your pregnancy goes smoothly and there are no concerns, you will not have another scan.

you will get a letter from the midwife with an appointment to go fill in all the paper work, she will give you all the information that you need. your first scan should be around 12 weeks unless the midwife is worried thing ain't as they should be. good luck!

nothing until 12 weeks then you have your booking appt at 12 includes scan, blood test urine test and family history questions. then you see your midwife at your local docs until another scan and bloods at 20. if all is well this is the last scan you have - also the one u find out the sex if u want. another bloods at 28 . I had extra scan and bloods as i has hypertension and a potential big baby, also extra hospital appointments for anti d injections as i have A neg blood group. but normally you only get 2 scans

First ulstrasound is normally 12 weeks as this then allows the hospital to allow for early miscarriages etc, also i think it depends on the country i am in the UK, its a long time to wait but well worth it i had mine two weeks ago and the little thing was so cute- good luck

its 12 weeks wen you have your 1st scan, thats 3 months into it, your second is at 22 - 23 weekshope all goes well good luck

Your first scan (the dating scan) can be anywhere between 10 and 14 weeks in the UK (mine was at 14 weeks 3 days, although once they'd had it, they recalculated my due date and said I was actually 15 weeks 3 days!). Once you go to our GP, you'll need to provide them with a urine sample to test - not because they don't believe you're pregnant, but because they have to have something they can use to kick start their own records. Once they confirm your pregnancy, they will then refer you to a midwife team who will get in contact to let yo know when your booking appointment it. THis normally happens when you're 8 - 12 weeks along, and it is only at this appointment that they'll give you your first scan date, as well as take a family history, urine sample, blood, etc.

usually between 8 and 11 weeks depending on what area you live and how busy your local maternity dept is. My sister got one at 6 weeks where she lives and i got mine at 10 weeks. I didn't get one until 20 weeks with my first baby!! You have your booking in appointment at 12 weeks with the midwife so they like to get you scanned before your see her.
