I am 38 weeks and 2 days pregnant and had an exam the other day. The doctor said that I am 2 cm dilated but my cervix is soft. He said that he thinks i might go past my due date. Being in the Army i cant be induced adn he said teh baby is already big and he sees me having some complications with birth. I was wondering if anyone here can give me some advice or tips on how to get labor started. The baby is dropped and at 8 pounds. Im really scared to see what he will be past my due date.

Keep in mind that your doctor is just making guesses at both the date and the weight. They might be educated guesses, but they're still just guesses.I'd be pretty annoyed with a doctor who came out with scary statements like 'I see you having some complications with birth' with nothing reassuring to add to that. Ask him how you can avoid those complications; he should be suggesting stuff like reading up on good positions to labour and deliver in, not scaring you based on guesses about things that aren't even guaranteed to be problems if they are what he suspects. Get your membranes stripped. I was a week over, they stripped it in the evening and then the next day I went into labor. Fast and quick, except baby was sunny side up... =)!Hope all goes well.

I was fortunate enough with my two to be on time but I remember my mother when she was pregnant with my sister, the doctor saw her that day sent her home, told her she had at least 2 more weeks and the next morning- Surprise my sister was born. I would suggest lots of walking and sex!!!
