| The Chinese have an important festival called the "Hungry Ghost" month where they believe that all vengeful/ restless spirits roam the earth for an entire month to seek justice/ peace. During this time, the Chinese have many superstitious beliefs which include not going out after dark or doing laundry (night) and not turning back if your name's called (when walking alone), etc. They perform burning of "Hell notes" as they call them to appease the spirits as well as food offerings so as to not aggravate them (spirits) in hopes that they'll keep them from harm.

| Would help if you could be as elucidating and informatory as you can in your answers; I need this for a project due tomorrow. By the way it's hard to find anything on this subject on Google. To lufiabuu, Heh. I've always thought of Buddhist beliefs as being a bit.. er, abstract, shall we say? I haven't fully researched that area, but I find it a bit odd that they believe that when being reincarnated, depending on your karma, you get more choice in what your next body will look like, even though they also believe that life, that you yourself, are an illusion and what you do look like does not matter one bit. Now, I may be completely misinterpreting it, but aren't these two beliefs a bit contradictory?

| edit: seeking, i'd like to also add that Taoists normaly DO beleive in gods, even though it isn't spoken of in the Tao Te Ching. They believe that the Tao created the gods, and that the gods are not all powerful, but the Tao is. So i guess you could say their gods are like mini-gods lol, or maybe angels o_O. For example they have the Jade Emperor, and Lao Tzu is said to be a god and advisor to the Jade Emperor.
