...led me to think negatively? My psychologist/psychiatrists believe that it is genetic, but I think it is all a coincidence. Some days I am fine and other days I get tired of this world. I am a college student. I often fantasize about how I am going to die, but I will never do it. Tonight I wish to sleep forever and never wake up. We all get this way don't we? Sometimes I do it without realizing it. Psycs are bull. What is your opinion? Convince me that I can change my perspective on life. Give me a good argument philosophy people. This world and it's people are unbearable for me. Life is too much for this mind to handle.College student.I'm not saying it's wrong! I'm saying that it's difficult to change a habit. I am use to thinking negatively. Whenever I think that everything is going great it goes sour.I need to live alone for a while and learn more about others guru. I am selfish, spoiled, and all of this has made me blind. I should be greatful.

Psycs are bull i agree with you they have no idea what they are telling you.. they tell you almost what you want to hear...you need to think positive.. when negative thoughts come into your mind try to look at a positive.. to me you sound as tho you may be depressed.. Have you looked at going to your GP and looking into depression and if you may have it.. Yes we do all get to a point when we all want to go to sleep and not wake the nxt morning but if this has become a reoccuring thing this is serious.. pls go and tlk to your GP and get some advicedont give up hope. life is short enough without being prematurily ended.i have the faith that you will be able to vercome your problems and see the good in life rather than the negatives.stay strong and positive

start noting down the times you have smiled in a day , been happy or just normal with no depression or tension .note down the times you get depressed or face problems and challenges .compare the way to take about things and how you handle them learn to look at them both the same way . dont get too excited when you are happy or too depressed when a problem hits you . remember there are so many millions of people out there who face 1000 times more than the problems you face now . if they can lead a life then so can you . YOU ARE NO WAY INFERIOR TO ANYONE AND PROBLEMS ARE JUST SPEED BREAKERS IN YOUR WONDERFUL JOURNEY CALLED LIFE . cheers .luv ya lots ,ajay

listen, we all have our ups and downs, ive been through the same things, where somedays you want to die and somedays you wish would last forever. i think your problem is that you dwell on the negative things to much. i know you are probably thinking that this is a load of crap, but think about it. when you do something good, (Since i am a huge believer in karma, and you should be too) something good will happen to you, and the same goes for bad things. we as humans have always dwell on the bad things that happen, but never appreciate the good things. things that you think are just normal everyday happy things could be good karma. time is the best in helping you pass through this time in your life. try doing new things becuse i bet youre sick of routine, take up some new hobbies. read a book, draw with crayons, learn how to cook.i hope everything works out for you.let me know if my advice was useful at all

I'm the same way and I hate to say it , but It has been getting worse. I would never try to kill myself, but I just have a hard time with relationships and being around people. I am not always like this, things will be going good, and then something will happen thats negative, and that will stick in my brain for a long time. My advice for you: Make the most of what you have, If you have few friends, be a good friend and keep in touch. It is good to just have someone to talk to who isn't going to tear you down. Also, do what you love to do: Whatever you like to do, Do it, and you will feel good. Don't be afraid to take chances, because you will regret it later. When you look back at life and the things that you were depressed about they will seem so meaningless. Have you tried any anti-depressants? Working out does wonders for me, but I know I need medication also.College as well as your early 20's can be a weird and stressfull time. But, concentrate on your studies for now, and don't turn to abusing drugs to lessen your depression.

I used to be really depressed and had an anxiety disorder. You have to do what your psychiatrist/therapists tell you to do.Talk to them about how you are feeling. If they gave you medication, take it.You HAVE to think positively. The reason why you are so depressed is because you always think negatively and you don't think positively. It may seem stupid to think positively, and you may think it won't work, but it does if you keep at it.Enjoy college!I can't wait to go. I'm not a big fan of high school. These are supposed to be the best years of your life!!Think about your whole future ahead of you.I hope when you go to sleep tonight, you will wake up and continue with your life.Remember everything happens for a reason.Hopefully one day you will look back on this difficult time and be glad you experienced it because it made you the person you are.If it weren't for the obstacles I had to overcome, I wouldn't be the person I am today. And i have a pretty amazing life.Keep your head up, there are people out there who have it a lot worse than you!Good luck!! ***

Are you bored with your life? Do you have any reasons for feeling the way that you do, or is it just the way that you feel regardless of what is going on in your life? Be careful with fantasizing about death; I used to do that when I was younger and it developed into anxiety problems in which I couldn't stop thinking about death all of the time. I became very scared and I barely left my bed for a month. Theres nothing like sheer terror to convince you to go out and live your life. It was a wake up call. Perspective is a matter of choice, but many times we are actually a slave to it and don't even know. There's probably deeper conflicts within you that you may or may not know about. Try writing them out or talking about it to someone. One more thing, isn't it great for it to be horrible? I know it sounds bizarre, but I find that in my greatest moments of despair, I am most inspired. Try channeling that despair into something beautiful and long-lasting.

I'm not a philosopher I'm just the girl down the street but I see life as a gift. My life has never been perfect but I've never been neglected either. God takes good care of me. I get depressed sometimes too it helps when I can make a mental note of simple pleasures I gain from living. My children, my friends, a beautiful sunset or maybe just a walk on a nice day and I'll stop and pick some flowers for my bedroom on the way. I was abandoned by my birth parents, and adopted by an alcoholic mother and and abusive father with no sense of humor. I am who I am today because of where I came from and the choices I made, one of those choices was to maintain a sense of wonder at the world and find at least one good thing in it everyday. When we fall down we get back up because we have to. I also take medication to help even out my moods and if there is truly an imbalance then there is no "bull" about it. My life would be unmanagable with out my medication and a positive attitude. Tell yourself that you are lucky every single day until you believe it and you will. Smile for no reason and you will feel happy for no reason, I promise. My greatest support though is having a relationship with God, this could be anything to you that you deem as a higher power. Then you are never lonely.

You need to set small achievable goals for yourself to begin with. On reaching them you will feel sense of fulfillment and high self-esteem. When you feel at peace with yourself things do perk up. Nobody likes to see a glum face and people tend to stay away from a morose person. You need to first develop a charming personality by doing away with the unnecessary clutter from your mind. We all depend on others for our happiness and their bad attitude hurt us too. People are attracted to a happy person. Trust me not everyone is unbearable. When you change your perspective you will be surprised to see how good some of them can be..........good luck.

All I can say is, it's the age old question: To be or Not to be...I don't know if we all get this way. I do know that a lot more of us get this way than would admit it.Let me just speak for myself, and a few people I have known over the past few decades. The question seems to have a way of hanging on and sneaking up. It needles you. Perhaps it keeps you sharp? Even though it makes you just want to shut down sometimes. It does me. Then you get to build a relationship with this question that is unique. Perhaps it even includes some "close calls" with the "wrong" answer. What helps is knowing that there's more to the question than just being? For that getting to know one's self is essential. Sometimes a good therapist, I had one, can hold up a mirror in just the right way that you see somethings you've been missing. These insights help get the question put in perspective. You need perspective.I know the worst part of feeling depressed is loosing perspective. Foreground and background merge, and the future and past seem impossible. Eternity seems now and Now seems impossible. Yet it is all on the same clock as it ever was. So, that is where the mind is not your friend and you got to put it in your place. With the help of routine, faith, exercize, drugs, or sometimes a psych. Mostly though with the help of you. Cause, once you decide you are going to win, you will. That is what I have seen. Then all those questions about genetics etc become academic. Ofcourse there are those that do choose the eternal sleep. So, it's not a light question. Remember that the world is not something that you have to deal with only with your mind, either. good luck to you.

If I may help,Shakespeare was obsessive, regarding there being equally a positive and a negative in everything. You may or may not be interested in him,but that's not what I'm suggesting. In 'Romeo & Juliet',Friar Laurence sums it up beautifully, when he first appears, mumbling profundities as he tends to his garden.A five minute speech to himself and the audience-worth reading. As for thinking about hurting yourself(my words), I believe all people have these thoughts, especially more sensitive and intelligent people-you are not alone there.Don't be too hard on yourself-another trap for thinkers with feelings.I wish you all the best.Life wasn't meant to be easy, although it's incredibly beautiful.Cheers,M.
