OMG, I love your name, first of all, Calvin - I mean StupendousMan. Interesting question... could he then declare: "I thought, therefore I was?" And if he could, would we extrapolate that he no longer "is"? Hmmmm... so following that logic, he would cease to exist the moment he decided to no longer be a philosopher so he would (lacking existence), in fact, not be able to think at all. So no.

If a Philosopher gave up philosophy, he never had it to begin with. As some may say, "if you can't think, then you must be dead."
