In the past I have had problems with my stepmother - her and my dad were really mean to me (I am 14 and this started when I was 7, I don't see them any more). Anyway, I am just realsing how this has affected me. I don't like talking to people I don't know or doing strange things(I also picked up a range of strange habits but that's not the point of this question). Just recently my friend invited me to a costume party and I was practically having a nervous breakdown about it and ended up calling her and telling her I couldn't go. I really want to stop being scared of new things and I was wondering what I should do to help me get over it and how I could stop freaking out about minor things such as going to as costume party.
