 Is there an alternative to a filling for a cavity? It is probably a small one because it only hurts when I brush at a certain angle on the particular molar. Is there an alternative to getting a filling? Can they just chip away the cavity part if it hasn't gone too deep in the tooth maybe? Or something else? (I know they even use lasers to fill now, but I'm looking for another option if possible)

| Anything removed needs to be filled to protect and prevent further damage.Why not get it filled. They have several types of fill not that look and blends in.Just get it fixed and discuss the concerns with the dentist

| A cavity forms when the protective enamel outside the tooth is breached by germs rotting away at it, and decay spreads into the dentin underneath. When that happens, the decayed areas need to be drilled out and the exposed dentin covered up with a filling.Dentin is far more vulnerable to decay than enamel due to its lower mineral content and more porous nature, which is why if you leave a tooth with an open hole and exposed dentin, it will continue to rot.Go to the dentist and get your cavity filled before it becomes deeper (and more expensive to fix).
