Shooting pain in my knee?

After waking up about 3 days ago I have had a sharp shooting pain in my right knee. Its the type of pain you get when you ram your knee into something in between the kneecap and the bone under it. Whether I am standing or sitting it will occur. Just a sharp pain that lasts for about 3 seconds then will stop . I started taking ibuprofen thinking maybe it was inflammation but still pain, just not as bad. I'm 21 so I don't believe its growing pains. Any explanation before I run off to the doctor?

omega 3 gels at any drug store. i had that problem once.

it might just be muscles squeezing or it might be something serious. i think you should go to a doctor and stop using ibuprofen unless the doctor perscribes you it. but I'm pretty sure that he'll prescribe something better hopefully.
