Jaw surgery...jaw locks...?

I have a really bad jaw....I sometimes cant even open my mouth, it gets stuck, & i have a overbite. It hurts to eat. Jaw surgery would be necassary? How long would i be in the hospital for it? And will i be able to eat also?
