Do people mellow as they become older or more bitter and twisted like me?

 It depends, if you are a happy person you mellow as you get older, but if you have lived most of your life unhappy, you become bitter and twisted as you resent any one who is younger than you.Or could be the decline of health, as some old folks spend most of their time in pain, they don't see a reason to be mellow and cheery.I'm young, but when I'm not well, I'm more grumpier than Victor from One foot in the grave.

| A lot of how we end up depends upon strength of character and the ability to 'rise above' the minor (& Major) happenings in life. 'Laughter is the medicine of Life' and we should all try to laugh more in the face of adversity.... then try to do something about the sorry state of things in the world today.

| My father used to day that to be a bitter and twisted old person you had to nave been a bitter and twisted young person. Apart from some mental illnesses that come on with age I think you pretty well keep the personalities you are born with. They are just refined over the years. In my experience getting older has mellowed me, I was never good at being bitter and twisted when I was younger and certainly would find it difficult to be so now.

| We all become more mellow with age. The bitter and twisted comes from the stress of modern society. The older we get the more stressful it is to survive the changes and attitudes from the younger generation towards us. We are not treated right and there is certainly no respect. We were, I believe, totally different when we were younger we were taught to respect our elders and having none of the things we were bought up to believe is right does make one bitter and twisted. There is, certainly,no feeling of security coming our way. Lets face it. We are treated badly, to say the least. No wonder we are bitter and twisted. Chin up and be proud that you have made it. Keep smiling it will pass
