The Philippines is really beautiful country to visit, it's competitive or even better than most of it's Asian counterparts, but here in Australia it is extremely rare to find advertisement for tours to the Philippines. Tourism figures also shows a very small number for the Philippines.

It's like a treasure chest that the Philippine government has failed to open. It would be a great economical help.

This is all just my opinion, I don't actually live there.

It is trying to, but not quite successfully.

I hate *****ing and moaning about the government but if you have a country that is as beautiful as ours, with a weather that is fantastic almost year-round, a culture that is an interesting mix of the east and the west, etc, etc... it is hard to explain why tourists don't flock here.

Some people say it is because of the over-protected airline industry. Others claim it is lack of promotion. Whatever it is, the government is not doing it right. And what then should we do? Let's all promote the Philippines ourselves! And yes, non-Filipinos like you can help us a lot in that regards. Please spread the word about this country which the Lonely Planet says is one of the most underestimated tourist destinations in the world.
