or was it because of Managers tactics (i remember he experimented with 3-5-2)

And do you think we will do the same thing in the World Cup qualifiers and not learn our lesson

Perhaps the multi million ££ waged players in the premiership aren't as good as the hype says they are??

For me the main reason is at the moment we have several good goalkeepers but no one who is world class. Sides always fancy they can score against us (so do we physiologically) this causes us to play deeper and surrender territory to early because the back 4 lack confidence that the guy behind can stop the shots. That permeates through the whole side. The result is when we are winning confidence is high but when we go behind we get nervous and don't play as well as we can.
Away from home the nerves are worse as the crowd is always worth some extra 'pace' for the home players.
We need to sort the GK area but until a new real talent emerges with international quality we will be a good team but not a brilliant one. In some positions you can occasionally carry a player for a few minutes in a game. Not the GK they must be top for 90 minutes as you never know where and when the challenge will come. Outfield players can get a team mate to cover a mistake. Rare for Gk's (corners) so any mistake usually gifts a goal to the opposition.

Tactically we're stuck in a rut in terms of formations and player positions/combinations - more experimentalism needed! The players are spoilt and pampered and surrounded by yes men who tell them they are 'pros' who can dictate the game to teams like Macedonia and they relax too much and screw up. The money in the premiership doesn't reach the lower leagues and there are fewer up and coming English players as a consequence and we end up with the same old tired formulas (surely Owen isn't the only decent English striker in the country - in Italy they have quotas). The FA is corrupt. Also, the players are wary of picking up injuries against the smaller sides;they think so far ahead they bugger up the match they're playing. They spend too much time posing for photos and modelling sunglasses; they need toughening up - they probably spend the weekend having their sacks, backs and cracks waxed!
